Fuel Hoses
Fuel hoses are usually made of a braided rubber component or plastic, that is used inside combustion engines to transfer the fuel from the fuel storage tank to the engine. The fuel hose is secured to the tank and engine with the use of metal clamps and is made to withstand the pressure of modern pressurized fuel delivery systems.
Fuel hoses come in a variety of shapes and sizes for all engine applications where fuel must be delivered to the intake system for combustion. Choosing the right type of hose for your purpose is a highly important task as ending up with the wrong one can have adverse effects and be potentially dangerous. Hoses are primarily used for a number of different applications, including automotive (gas and diesel), marine, aircraft and high-end industrial systems. They can be braided steel, solid metal, rubber or even plastic. They all have a specific job to perform, whatever their type. The most common types are found on passenger vehicles and trucks.
- Rubber gas hoses – These are mostly used on vehicles such as cars and trucks which typically require high-strength composite hoses made of rubber and plastic.
- Diesel Hoses - Diesel hoses commonly have a discharge and suction side, equipped with special leak-proof fittings. Although they are used in big rig transport trucks, they also serve in marine applications, able to withstand the extra pressures required from larger fuel-injected diesel engines.
- Marine diesel hoses - These hoses are specially treated during their manufacturing process to protect against salt, oil and water contamination and are also resistant to fire.
- Aircraft fuel hoses - Fuel hoses for aircraft use high composition inner rubber construction, with the addition of heat shields, in the form of sleeves or steel braided design. They are often of the highest quality, are hardwearing and fire resistant.
